Happy valentine's to you all
my day has ended with me coming up.to bed and leaving my husband and 2 wee boys, watching tv. How had your day gone?
This is week 3 of cold/:flu like symptoms. My gp had given me antibiotics so no metho this week or next.
ls this a common complaint of RA - catching bugs, viruses whatever? I suppose it doesn't help working in a school.
l feel like such a misery and that l am letting my family down by being ill. Does Anyone else feel lime this?

Hi Lisa Since our auto immune systems are suppressed byy the RA drugs we are more susceptible to colds and other infections. And a school is a melting pot of infections! . Antibiotics are only prescribed when the virus turns into a bacterial infection and your GP has already covered that. Sometimes the antibiotics can make you feel worse. Hang on in there, you will get better. Paul Barrett

Hello Lisa
Sorry to read about you feeling run down. Ra & meds is an awful combination which leads us to feeling rather flu like & fatigued. I find having the flu injection the past few years has helped to lesson the bugs/sneezes/diseases. Last time I was in bed feeling unwell was after my knee surgery & the tramadol making me feel a bit woo woo & out of it. Everyone is effected differently by ra, if you need to go to bed - then that is what you have to do.
Our spouses are amazing (maybe not in the kitchen making meals)!
Love Jane Xxx

Yes this time of year is really difficult for us with our immune systems being compromised by the drugs that we take. At least there are signs of spring in the garden. Tomorrow the weather is supposed to be sunnier after all this rain so perhaps that will lift our moods.
I hope you feel a bit better soon.

Hi everyone
Thank you for replying, I have been laying low the past few days and letting the antibiotics work.
We had a lovely day here yesterday and the sun was out so I forced myself to go for a walk with my husband, sons and dog. I slept like a log last night.
Hope you are all ok and have escaped any bad flooding where you are? I noticed my daffodils shooting up in the garden and like you all await the signs of Spring and will envelop the lighter evenings with much delight.

Hi Dorothy Sounds like you're going through a rough patch indeed. I don't know whether it is the flu jab or that I don't deal with the public in my job, but I've so far been clear of colds and stuff. Fingers crossed that will continue. I'm in Lowestoft too, had some fences down but they were old anyway. My driveway does become a little paddling pool but so far the bungalow is safe! Feel a lot better on those days we're getting a little sunshine and no rain, such a relief. Spring flowers popping their heads up too, on the downside, my garden needs some serious attention now so I expect I'll overdo it and cause a flare. Hope you all feel better soon! Normally when I get a cold it goes straight to my chest and after a couple of weeks requires antibiotics. Then I went on to auto immune suppressing drugs. Perversely I got a cold at Christmas that did not develop into anything and then, 3 days before we were due to fly to Florida I got a cold that went straight to my chest. The doc gave me some antibiotics to take with me, just in case, but it also cleared up on its own, in a matter of 3 or 4 days. How perverse is that? Paul Barrett

[quote=Dorothy-W]men eh! paul, good to know that one person can shift a cold/quote] I wish I could say that was always the case (shifting a cold) but it's not - they normally got to my chest and hit me hard. So, knowing that I was on auto immune suppressing drugs I was very surprised that I managed to beat them. Paul Barrett

Hi folks
Thanks for all the replies - hope you are all doing ok?
I have been left with the sniffles but the antibiotics seem to have perked me up and I don't feel as tired. Although being off the metho for 2 weeks and my joints are starting to seize up again so will be taking it again next Thursday. Oh the joys and swings and roundabouts of RA.
Hope you are having a restful weekend wherever you are.
Take care.
